MERO Biltong is a product of Soko Africa Ltd. Biltong is a traditional dried meat snack and delicacy enjoyed and loved by people from Southern Africa. One of the proprietors of MERO Biltong grew up in Zimbabwe and is sharing her love for biltong with Uganda. After introducing it to her friends and family in Uganda, they were hooked and wanted more. We started experimenting with different flavours and selling them to friends and family. In 2019, we officially introduced MERO Biltong to the Uganda market. We also received our certification from UNBS in the same year.
MERO biltong has uniquely created a combination of spices/herbs which are simply a taste sensation that you will crave.
Over the past year, we introduced our biltong to supermarkets, and we have been supplying them as wholesalers. We supply supermarkets in and around Muyenga, Kabalagala, Nsambya, Bukoto, Ntinda and Mengo, as well as some hotels in Mukono and Fort Portal. Biltong is not very well known to Ugandans, but since we introduced it to the market, it is picking momentum. We started with family members and friends, but the business is growing steadily. We have funded the business ourselves and we want to grow organically and at a manageable pace that would not impact on our quality and standards.
